Sustain Charlotte members celebrate at summer potluck

June 23 may have been the hottest day of the year, but it didn’t keep our members from enjoying a family-friendly evening of grilling and games at a beautiful (and surprisingly breezy) lakeside pavilion in Park Road Park! We celebrated the success of our June fund drive and welcomed many of the 61 new members who have joined in the past few weeks. The financial support of our members allows us to do the important work of moving Greater Charlotte further along a sustainable path. This picnic was our chance to say THANK YOU!

The Sustainability Scholars from Davidson College joined us for food and fun!

And special thanks to our friends Devin Forbes at Builtwell and Katie Schindler at Fine Grit for so generously donating the space, materials, and their expertise needed to make these sweet new Sustain Charlotte cornhole boards! And thanks to our Gold Partner Boingo Graphics for providing the beautiful decals!

The competition grew pretty intense, but everyone was a good sport.

8 year-old Brayden, the son of a member, dominated the competition and won the whole tournament! He became the proud owner of the grand prize, a set of two custom Sustain Charlotte cornhole boards and matching green & blue beanbags.

Brayden (left) won the tournament in a sweeping victory. This was his FIRST time ever playing the game. What an athlete!
