Charlotte council pushes back on NCDOT I-77 expansion (Business North Carolina)
d. The City Council chamber was filled Monday night for the public comment session in which toll lane opponents blistered city and state officials. Speakers condemned tolls as elitist; criticized past Charlotte highway planning as unjust and harmful to the Black community; called for more spending on mass transit, bike lanes and improved walkability; and urged city officials to listen up and pause the double-decker highway plan.
