Come join us for an engaging morning with Davidson Mayor Rusty Knox to explore riding the bus as a part of Day Without Driving! We are hosting this event to teach people how to navigate the bus system in hopes that they will feel comfortable using it regularly. Mayor Knox will be happy to talk to YOU about why transportation options are so important.
Please note that this event is free to attend, but you will need to purchase a one-way ticket ($3) or roundtrip ticket ($6). When you arrive, we can show you how to purchase your tickets via the CATS app on your phone; please download and set up your account in advance if you don’t already have one.
The gathering will begin at the Jackson Street parking lot at 7:00 a.m. with an overview of the basics of using the bus. Participants will walk over to the bus stop in front of the old Town Hall to catch the 7:20 a.m. bus. Round-trip tickets are $6.00.
Upon arrival uptown at the 3rd St./Tryon St. stop at 8:05 a.m., the group will visit Waterbean for coffee, check out the Latta Arcade, chat about the experience, offer instructions about navigating back to Davidson, then disperse to work. We can’t wait to see you there!
Location: The event will start at Jackson Street parking lot at 7:00 a.m. by the Davidson Farmer’s Market (120 S Main St, Davidson, NC 28036) and end at Waterbean Coffee (300 S Tryon St. Suite 150, Charlotte, NC 28202)
Accessibility: The CATS system complies with the American Disabilities Act and buses have lifts, ramps, or a kneeling function for anyone with difficulties, as well as priority disability seating. We want this event to be welcoming and accessible for everyone. If you require accommodations due to a disability, please contact Hope at hope.wright@sustaincharlotte.org. 72-hour notice is appreciated to allow us time to ensure we fully meet your needs.
While we won’t have childcare available, you’re welcome to bring your kids and supervise them.
