Here’s how you can give to Sustain Charlotte to help support our mission
During this season of giving, we invite you to consider the powerful gift of investing in a sustainable future. Sustain Charlotte is ready, willing, and equipped to continue effecting meaningful change with YOUR help. We have many options for you to donate your time, energy, and money to contribute to achieving a healthy, equitable, and vibrant community for generations to come.
Check out the ways you can give now!
You can become a Sustain Charlotte sustaining member for as little as $10/month. Your tax-deductible membership donations will help us continue to advocate for growing our community in a way that is better for the climate, our health, and equity. This means better public transit; a connected greenway, bicycle, and sidewalk network; and compact, efficient development that preserves more green space and allows us to be less dependent on cars for our mobility. You’ll also receive a complimentary T-shirt and other fun benefits. Become a member today.
Volunteers make our events happen! Each year, we need dozens of volunteers to support Biketoberfest, the Charlotte Sustainability Awards and other educational and advocacy activities. For corporate and individual volunteering opportunities, please email our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@sustaincharlotte.org. Sign up to receive our newsletter for new and upcoming ways to give your time and energy to Sustain Charlotte efforts.
Through our partner program, we provide year-round brand exposure, positive publicity, and business development opportunities to those businesses and nonprofits that are helping make our community become more sustainable through their products, services, or commitment to move their organization towards greater sustainability. Partners provide critical operating support to Sustain Charlotte via an annual partner fee. Check out our list of partners and see all the benefits of joining our partner network.
Every penny counts when it comes to doing the work of advocating for a sustainable future! Make a tax-deductible one-time contribution of any amount at any time. Many employers match the charitable donations of their employees; see if this applies to your organization and double your impact!
Sustain Charlotte is proud to be an approved charity for Donor Advised Fund sponsoring organizations. Donor-Advised Funds are a tax-efficient way to manage charitable donations. They allow donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund over time. This giving option is a wonderful way to support the vital work that Sustain Charlotte is doing in our community.
Employees of businesses that participate in EarthShare North Carolina’s Workplace Giving and State Employee Giving Campaign or are a 1% for the Planet business can designate their contributions for Sustain Charlotte.

A look at the year ahead
At Sustain Charlotte, we work to transform our community for good all year long. We need your support to help us continue our hard work in 2023. Here’s what’s at the top of our to-do list for the new year:
- Ensuring that the Unified Development Ordinance is implemented in a consistent and equitable manner to help Charlotte become a healthier, more equitable, more affordable and more sustainable city.
- Advocating for funding in Mecklenburg County’s next Capital Improvement Plan to build AT LEAST 50 new miles of greenways over the next five years.
- Advocating for local and state leaders to let voters decide on the One Cent for Mobility sales tax that would provide the critical funding needed to improve and expand our sidewalk, bicycle, greenway, and transit networks.
Thank you for your support. We couldn’t do what we do without you!
