Hello! My name is Lyric Bailey. I am a rising sophomore at Davidson College, originally from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I am an intended Environmental Science major and Education minor.

I chose to work with Sustain Charlotte this summer to continue learning about the environmental issues in the surrounding area and making a positive impact on the people affected by them. My interest in environmental science was sparked by my mom’s successful efforts to make sure my brother and I spent considerable time in nature while learning about what we saw at school and home. I am passionate about environmental justice and social issues and enjoy supporting efforts that advocate for human life. I also enjoy recording music, surfing, skating, and engaging in athletics.

At Davidson, I am a member of the Black Student Coalition Board, the Dubosian World Scholar Board, a Davidson Football Team Manager, a new Davidson Wildcat Cheer team member, and a voice singer with Davidson’s music program.

This summer, I will be working to interview CATS riders and employees to understand the life of a transit rider better and encourage citizens of Charlotte to use public transportation. Additionally, I will be gathering and helping distribute supplementary education about sustainable transportation efforts.

Welcome to the team, Lyric!
