North Carolina Department of Transportation holds first public meeting on I-77 express lane project (WBTV)
The North Carolina Department of Transportation and the Turnpike Authority held the first of two public meetings on Wednesday to present plans for adding express lanes to I-77 from the South Carolina state line to Uptown Charlotte. Dozens of people who live in neighborhoods adjacent to I-77 attended the meeting to review preliminary maps and provide input. Some residents expressed concerns about communities that were previously impacted when the highway was built in the 1960s and 1970s. Sustain Charlotte opposes the plan.
