Our statement regarding last week’s Blue Line incident

Like many in our community, we were deeply saddened to learn of the violence that occurred on the Blue Line last week. Every person in Charlotte deserves to feel safe using public transit, and our hearts are with those affected.

A safe, reliable transit system is essential for connecting people to jobs, education, and opportunity, and for building a healthy and thriving city. We appreciate the work of first responders and transit staff, and we support continued efforts to strengthen safety for riders and operators.

We remain committed to working with city leaders, community partners, and residents to ensure that Charlotte’s transportation network is safe, equitable, and welcoming for everyone.
