Student entrepreneurs tackle Charlotte’s urban issues in CO-LAB competition (Niner Times)
Ambitious students from various academic backgrounds participated in the CO-LAB Ventures: Bridging Business & Computing competition on March 12 at the UNC Charlotte Center City campus to tackle real-world urban development problems.
Each team had roughly five members with one to two mentors, enabling an opportunity for students to engage with high-level professionals and practice in business and product development.
Further, these opportunities can provide access to networking opportunities. Tello described the impact of discovering Sustain Charlotte through a UNC Charlotte professor.
“While I was doing research, my professor [was] a huge advocate [for me]. They [Sustain Charlotte] ultimately are funding more mobility, whether it’s social mobility or urban development,” said Tello. “It was a really great resource to stumble upon them, and I hope to become an ambassador in the future.”
