Thank you to everyone who helped make the seventh annual Biketoberfest a stellar success!

We could not have asked for a better day – beautiful weather, a full line-up of stops, and our most expansive route ever to explore the city on two wheels.

We had:

  • 660 participants
  • 50 volunteers
  • 25 sponsored stops

Biketoberfest is an urban adventure that benefits Sustain Charlotte. This annual event highlights the ways you can get around the city safely by bike using the current infrastructure including the Rail Trail, greenways, and painted and protected bike lanes like the new 6th Street Cyclelink, which Sustain Charlotte has been advocating for since 2016.

It’s important to note that this event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors; our many thanks go out to Sustaining Sponsors Lowe’s Home Improvement and Southminster; Platinum Sponsors Triple C Brewing Company, City of Charlotte, Charlotte Magazine, Sun Raised Foods, and NOVEL by Crescent Communities; Gold Sponsors Metropolitan, South End, Uptown, and Spin; and our 20+ Silver stop sponsors who brought this year’s route to life.

Families, beginners, and road warriors alike took on a brand new route this year that looped through South End, Uptown, and Midtown and added mileage through Villa Heights and NoDa. This new part of the route allowed participants to explore Cordelia Park.

Here’s what some of our participants had to say:

“We took our 3-year-old in the tow along this year and that was awesome for her, as well as having another reason to get out on our bikes! This was our 4th year attending and we absolutely loved it, and seeing how rapidly our QC is growing.”

“I loved experiencing parts of the Queen City on bike that I hadn’t gotten to do before.”

“Just seeing people out and about on bikes made me very happy.”

“I liked seeing the various parks around Charlotte; had no idea some of these were there!”

This year’s event was structured a little differently – for the second time, we used an event platform called OneCause that allowed our participants to fundraise for our mission to inspire choices that lead to a healthy, equitable, and vibrant community for generations to come. THANK YOU to every single person who donated or fundraised for this event – with your help, we were able to raise an additional $13,037, bringing our total raised for the event to well over $73,000, a record for Sustain Charlotte.
