Sustain Charlotte hosts first mixer of 2015
Sustain Charlotte Features S & D Coffee & Tea at First Mixer of the Year
Sustainability supporters came out in record numbers to the first Sustain Charlotte Mixer of the year. Over 60 community members attended the event at Triple C Brewing Company, including over 20 first time attendees.
Attendees heard from John Weibel, Environmental Systems Program Manager for S & D Coffee and Tea. Weibel shared S & D’s accelerated commitment to sustainable development. Weibel spoke about S & D’s increased focus on sustainability and how their systems drive efficiencies, inspire innovation, and their efforts to build a platform for long-term growth and assured supply. And Weibel explained how those efforts allow them to deliver an enhanced level of credibility to their customers.
Attendees also heard from Ukrainian Fulbright Scholar Serhii Volevakha from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, who is completing research work with Professor of Psychology Jim Cook exploring the “External environment factors of psychological empowerment in grassroots community organizations”. He addressed attendees and offered all an opportunity to take part in his study through a survey.
Executive Director Shannon Binns also recognized Education and Outreach Program Director Meg Fencil who celebrated one year with Sustain Charlotte on January 6.
The next Monthly Mixer will be held on February 3 at Triple C Brewing Company with special guests, Megan Green and Damon Barron.
