Growing Our Greenways: Sustain Charlotte and AARP Charlotte co-host an outing

Despite a postponement, rain, and chilly temps, our March 10 group walk on Irwin and Stewart Greenways was a success! We co-hosted the walk with AARP Charlotte, in partnership with our Growing Our Greenways friends, Partners for Parks and Carolina Thread Trail.

Starting at Blue Blaze Brewing west of uptown, our hardy crew meandered down the greenway to South Summit Avenue and back while learning about the local habitat from our friends at Charlotte Wildlife Stewards. Did you know that rosebuds and violets are edible? Knowledge and laughter were shared by all, and we look forward to hosting another greenway walk soon.

Interested in having more greenways (and more greenway connections) in the Charlotte region? Sign up for a Mecklenburg County budget workshop to voice your support. Our next greenway event will be a stream clean and walk along Campbell Creek on April 22nd – Earth Day! We look forward to seeing you there!
