Last year we debuted our Charlotte Family Biking Guide, the first-ever compiled guidebook with pretty much anything you need to know about biking with kids in Charlotte. From recommendations on where to bike, to advice on how to safely ride while pregnant, you can find an answer here.

Here are 3 of our top tips included in the guide to make your ride easier and safer:

1. Helmets only work if they’re worn correctly. Read through our tips for ensuring proper fit, and when to replace a helmet, whether for a kid or an adult.

2. There are multiple seating options for biking with a baby. Choose the one you’re comfortable with and that is appropriate for your child’s age. Test your seating setup without a child in it first to make sure everything is securely attached to your bike.

3. Start with small rides until you and your child are comfortable. Even riding once a week will start to build confidence, and you can build up from there.
